Prisca Amongin, the Guild President of Uganda Christian University, Mukono campus, has appointed David Emolot to the position of vice guild president.
Emolot is a second year student of Development Studies (BDS). He has previously served in the UCU guild government of 2015/2016 in the capacity of Member of Parliament for BDS and his tenure will be ending January this year.
There will be elections this semester for the few courses that were not represented in the September semester last year.
It should be noted that the position had been vacant since last semester after the “obvious” choice, Brian Mwesigwa declined the appointment. There were a number of concerns raised by students about his appointment, with rumors that the guild would be dragged to court for choosing a candidate that did not have the qualifications for the office.
The replacement was then shifted to the January Semester. The semester started with students raising eyebrows as who would assume the office. However, the wait was not long.
Emolot will be vetted today by the Guild Parliament.
