MUKONO: Uganda Christian University [UCU] Spokesperson, Joseph Basoga, was on Friday given two hours, by the university administration, to pack his belongings and vacate the university premises, Campusbee has learnt. This came after Basoga was audited. Highly placed sources in the UCU administration tip this website that Basoga used to forge receipts and would present fake accountability of the money spent.
“The final mistake came when he refused to be part of the “UCU Open Day” organisation. He had received three warning letters on similar accounts of incompetence and abuse of office,” the source told Campusbee.
He added: “Basoga would requisition money for publicity and would pay less to people working. Then he would forge receipts to cover up the money he saves for himself out of the events organised. For example, in most cases, he would requisition shs50,000 for each journalist to cover a UCU event, but would later pay shs20,000 to each journo or even less- saving the balance of shs30,000 from each journalist for himself.”
We are told he would bang abnormal ‘enjawulo’ when it came to printing materials like calendars, t-shirts among others. When contacted, Basoga confirmed that he is no longer the spokesperson of UCU.
