The Uganda Christian University (UCU) Global 5K Run successfully took place yesterday, November 2, 2024, with a charitable cause aimed at raising tuition funds for students in need.
The event, which kicked off at 8:00 AM, was led by Chief Runner Mr. Michael Nuwagira Kaguta Toyota, Chair of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) alongside the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Aaron Mushegyenzi.
He presented a cheque of Twenty Million Uganda Shillings to UCU as PLU’s contribution to supporting students in need of tuition.
“I and my team will continue mobilizing resources towards this noble cause,” he pledged.
Among the notable attendees was former Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Principal, Prof. Wasswa Balunywa, whose presence added to the event’s significance.
Event coordinators Dickson Tumuramye and Dorothy Tushemereirwe managed the logistics, ensuring smooth operations throughout the morning.
The funds raised from the event will go towards supporting needy students at UCU, helping to ensure that financial constraints don’t hinder deserving students from pursuing their education.
