A recent graduate from Uganda Christian University (UCU) identified as Ritah Nakyanzi, has taken the job application process to a whole new level by setting her own job interview questions and subsequently landing her dream job.
In all started when she applied for job in medical company with particular specialization in Public Health, and right before she sat her interview she opened up about the puzzle she was undergoing while preparing for the vacancy.
“I have an interview this week but i honestly don’t know how to prepare, it’s a blend of health systems strengthening, maternal health and HIV programing. I am here trying to figure out how to prepare…”she posted on her X (formerly Twitter) platform.
Just like any other graduate competing for a spot in a competitive job market, such as Uganda, the young lady was faced with uncertainty and engulfed with fear.
She further revealed that during the interview, she had to formulate her own questions because those set by the employer “didn’t make sense.”
Eight (8) days later, Nakyanzi was surprised with the news that she had been hired, and guess what? Her employer informed her, that it was for her wise-ness that she was successful at the interview.
“Friends, I got the job. In the written interviews, I set my own question because the data set didn’t make sense to me. I have been told that is why I got the job.” she wrote.
The questions she set for herself, were not only relevant to the position but also reflected her deep understanding of the company’s values and goals.
Normally, job interviews (be it oral or written) are known for requiring only answers, something that Nakyanzi did different putting her at an advantage over her counterparts.
This unusual approach to the job interview serves as an inspiration to recent graduates and job seekers everywhere to always think outside the box.
