Amanya Bruce Mugisha, the Guild President of Uganda Christian University (UCU) has turned down an invitation by the office of the President to attend a leadership training retreat at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) Kyankwanzi.
While expressing his disgruntlement at the fact that he was even invited, according to him, by a government that has a record of unexplained human rights violations, Mugisha said the National Resistance Movement (NRM) are misusing the power of patriotism for their own political end.
“I received an invitation letter from Office of President Museveni to the Kyankwanzi retreat which I declined. No incentive in being apart of a group that has no explanation for the abuse of fundamental human rights and the politicised misuse of the power of patriotism!” A tough talking Mugisha is quoted to have said on his twitter handle.
In the letter, the summit was to run from 7th to 17th August and he had been called upon to carry along four members of his executive to the summit.
