UCU Guild presidential candidate survives ‘a cold death’

Akatukunda Moreen one of the presidential candidates in the UCU guild race was nearly killed last night by unknown men who attacked her hostel of residence. The unfortunate event occurred at around 2 am in the wee hours of the night.

Fortunately for her, the assailants ended up going to the wrong room and instead attacking another student who was sound asleep leaving him hospitalized and his room a bloody sight.

“By God’s grace my candidate is alive,” says one of the supporters at the scene was heard saying.

However, some students have come out to claim that they believe the attack was a campaign strategy to get sympathy votes in order for Akatukunda to advance as UCU guild winner.

“Moreen has simply seized the moment. It might have been a robbery like any other, and the neighbor was the intended target.” a student who preferred anonymity said.

There others who have also come out to claim that, the other UCU presidential candidate Prisca Amongin could have been the brains behind the attack, though no prove of this has surfaced.

“UCU lawyers are taught how to fake cases and later they resolve them…” claims another. However, the police said these are all baseless accusations as there is no evidence to justify the accusations.

Mukono has however had a number of attacks recently and in the past with students losing items and surviving deaths by iron bar hit men. These hit men attack students in the night and leave them for dead. A few cases have been reported to the UCU police concerning this matter before.

The case has been referred to the UCU police station and investigations are being done. Campus bee will keep you posted.
