Uganda Christian University (UCU) last week expelled 2 students that sat on the electoral commission, the EC boss, Bob Ahimbisibwe (a fourth year law student) and another only known by Raymond (a third year law student doing social sciences).
The duo has been accused of making sexual advances towards the guild aspirants, as well soliciting for bribes from the students.
From an audio recording received by Campus Bee, the accused students are heard pleading for sex from the guild contestants. Bob is heard promising the another voice in the recording that she would be unopposed in her post in the ongoing elections.
Sources say this is the third time Ahimbisibwe had been suspected of asking for bribes.
Three weeks ago, the guild government disbanded the above electoral committee and replaced it with a new committee that is overseeing the ongoing electoral process.
Early this year, the University expelled two other students, Yasim Sentumbwe (3rd year doing law) and Simon Ssemuwemba (4th year doing law)for offering leadership to a protest against the new tuition policy that saw an increment to tuition by over 10% in this academic year. The two are now battling it with the university in court.
It is uncertain what exactly indefinite expulsion means and how long these students will serve their punishments.
