Over UGX 800 Million of has been allocated to the tarmacking of the roads within Uganda Christian University (UCU), Mukono in a project that was officially started yesterday.
The construction started after the Vice Chancellor Dr. John Ssenyonyi commissioned the works. The ceremony took place at about 2:30 pm yesterday afternoon from around the university clinic.
The construction will see parking spaces, paths and drainage channels put to the right standard. Also in the plan is the construction of up to 3 kilometres of the university roads.
The students of the Mukono-based institute have for long wanted a heavenly sign to show that they are not paying large sums of tuition money for nothing. Top of the things the students wanted to see was the well paved and tarmacked pathways on the university roads to escape the dusty-when-sunny and muddy-when-rainy roads that dominated the university terrain.
Their prayers have been answered, and the plans that the University had had for a long time are now bearing fruit. The bids for construction were started on the 15th February, where prospective bidders for the project were identified.
The project that was set to start in March as reported by the university paper, The Standard has finally commenced.
