My Boda guy is a technology start-up aimed at making the Boda Boda industry safer, more systematic and convenient to commuters and all those in need of it.
Rodney Nganwa, a law finalist at UCU conceptualized the whole idea after seeing the need to formalize the boda-boda industry.
Basing on the inherent problems in the boda-boda industry such as poor hygiene, and all associated insecurities; the pillars to this technology start-up app are safety, reliability and convenience. Boda-bodas are commonly used especially in the city centres, their ability to avoid traffic jam is one of the reasons bodas are preferably used and still persist in existence.
My Boda guy will in future incorporate a USSD feature with the various Telcos as well as Toll Free Number for direct Calls through our Call Center; it will be running on android/IOS and other technology platforms making it avail a range of options that permit consumers with or without smartphones to submit trip requests which are then routed to the nearest enlisted rider.
My Boda guy operates on a hybrid of two models; Social empowerment to riders through providing cheap bodas and convenience for customers. Rodney analysed the problems in the industry from the riders and customers perspective therefore giving each a comfortable position.
This technology start-up is a one of a kind and will surely be of help to the nation. The gist behind the name is that most Ugandans call their trusted boda riders ‘my boda guy’ and hence the perfect name for it.
Recruitment of riders is underway and more vital engagements to be up as soon as the brilliant law finalist finalizes with the launch this month.
“My Boda guy” will be one of the service providers Orahi.tech will be hosting. It is a very critical part in the transport Industry that needs a comprehensive overhaul.
Orahi.tech is an app created by students of Makerere University to be launched soon acting as a platform for different service providers. All these great works of the various students are geared towards creating a new way for Ugandans to do business and all in all have happy lives.
Long live Uganda!!
