Eliab Ikyiriza, now a former tutor at Uganda Christian University (UCU) called his time up in front of students.
Like the saying goes, every finish line is the beginning of a new race, Ikyiriza has his eyes onto another occupation outside of class.
The celebrated academician however could not hold his gratitude towards the UCU community for the chance rendered to him.
Through a Twitter thread on August 23, Ikyiriza jotted this sentimental writing;
Today I announce an end of my 8 year teaching career at @UCUniversity
I thank UCU for giving this UPE product a chance to participate in the Value & Professional formation of the nation’s young adults.
As a teacher, the greatest compliment I could ever hear was “Sir, when are you teaching again?”
To all my former students, know you are always in my prayers, and I will always be a phone call away for any appropriate help needed; 0789009490
Those I could have hurt, my apologies. It could have been intentional for the purpose of hard way instruction and learning, or it could have been a professional error on my side.
To my mentors Prof. @Dr_Kitayimbwaa Prof. @busingye Prof. @DrLawry, Thank you for keeping your doors always open for me, thank you for believing in me, and those prayers in your offices meant a lot.
I would like to consider this a break, hopefully I will make a return someday.
I am committing the next phase of my career to supporting and equipping teachers in the promotion of literacy in Uganda with @LiteracyinUg It is already an exciting trip!
We wish Ikyiriza the very best of luck.
