The news regarding the decease of Mwesigwa Mongoyi Elijah, the Kyambogo University student have hit Uganda Christian University (UCU) very hard because the deceased had a strong connection with the Mukono based institute.
Many at UCU who knew or saw him, know that he was a very common figure at the campus especially during opening days of the university. He usually engaged in the registration exercise of the students at the university.
Before enrolling for his masters at Kyambogo, he was also a student of UCU that graduated a few years ago. Details emerging also indicate that the deceased was a son to the Vice Chancellor of the Arua based, Muni University.
At the time of his decease, Elijah had been a resident of Mwebaza hostel in Mukono, around UCU. When he slipped in his bathroom during the weekend, he was rushed to the university clinic, Allan Galpin, but it was too late. He was already dead by the time his body reached the clinic.
During the Sunday service at UCU, the university chaplain took a moment to let the congregation mourn with the university the loss of a colleague, a friend and a student. He will be laid to rest today at 4pm at his ancestral grounds in Kibeto, Kamuli District. Our heart felt condolences go out to his friends and family. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
