His excellency Arthur Biliruno of Uganda Christian University Mukono handed in his official cream d’ la cream ministerial cabinet list recently.
The faculty of Education had the president’s upper hand since they bagged five vital ministerial and executive positions on his cabinet i.e. Sharon Nagenjwa the vice president, ICT minister Wamahoro Lorine, deputy gender minister Derrick Kamugisha among others.
He’d mesmerise the Christian university community as he included a number of opposition members onto his cabinet. Third runner up Guild Presidential aspirant, Acobi Andrew was appointed minister for Health and Razak Tibakuno campaigning manager to Guild presidential aspirant Joshua Muwanguzi was appointed minister for internal affairs.
He however showed no sympathy for his immediate competitor Joshua and Kanya appointing them to non of his cabinet positions rather appointed vetted out opponents at the Senate; Nagenjwa Sharon to vice president and Wandeme Fred as minister of Education.
Majority of the students have been impressed by Arthur’s fair balanced selection of the cabinet although others have found some irregularities in his selection.
Campus political analyst, Orombi William Obola wasn’t impressed with Arthur’s taste of selection because Arthur may not be in position to fulfil the goals and objectives of his manifesto since there’re too many opposing hands he’d bring close to his table which may work against him.
Others are opposing his choice of a non sport man to the sports ministerial position. They argue that UCU’s sports sector currently lies in a balance as the University awaits the December Inter – University Games of which it hosts. Therefore a non sports man appointed to this position wouldn’t add value and organisation for luck of attachment to any sports activity rather jeopardise the overall performance and organisation of the sports fraternity.
