Uganda Christian University (UCU) held a fundraising campaign today, September 16 for Mbale campus.
The major objectives of this campaign is to acquire funds to facilitate the expansion of the computer laboratory through purchasing at least 200 computers, to construct a state-of-the-art sports stadium/training ground and to buy a 67-seater capacity bus.
The estimated cost for the above is valued at around shs. 1.5 billion. In a bid to achieve this amount, UCU has solicited for support from the general public, a move that attracted the Presidential attention.
Through the Resident City Commissioner (RCC) of Mbale, Ahamada Washaki, the Head of State contributed a worthwhile sum of Ugx 200 million.
“President Kaguta Museveni (represented by Ahamada Washaki, the Mbale City Resident City Commissioner) has contributed UGX 200 million towards the UCU Mbale fundraising campaign. Your Excellency, we thank you for supporting this noble cause,” UCU publicised.
During the same event, UCU donated UGX 5 Million towards the UCU Mbale fundraising drive.
The Rev. Assoc. Prof Dr Kitayimbwa on behalf of the UCU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi, handed over a dummy cheque of UGX 5 million to the UCU Mbale Principal, Mrs Mary Manana as pictured below.
