The Rotaract Club of Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono will be holding its Charter celebrations at the university grounds this Friday, February 10, 2017, to celebrate 15 years of existence.
Rotaract UCU, as Rotary Club Partner, was established at the university in 2002 under the presidency of Mooli Albert (Now a lecturer of Law at UCU) who was the first President of the club.
In attendance will be all the past presidents that the Rotaract Club has had since its establishment. Some key figures from the Rotary club will make appearances at the event. A number of other Rotaract clubs from other institutions like Makerere, St. Lawrence, Ndejje, Nkozi, community based clubs like Makindye, Bukoto, Seeta, Kibuli among others have been invited to the event.
The president of the Club at UCU, Joackim Mumbere, says he is very impressed by the achievements the club has registered so far.
“Rotaract is now well recognized and visible all over the university. The projects we have organized since 2002 have changed lives of many people around Mukono and other places around Uganda.” he says. “We have also diversified membership and we boast of members from literally every course at the university.”
The president also adds that the club has improved in its relationship outside the university. “We have made great partnerships with many clubs in Kampala and around the country.”
Among the activities scheduled to take place that day include induction of new members, poetry, comedy, music and performances from dance groups among others.
There will also be the launching of some projects that the club is engaged in.
The event will start at 6:30 pm at Nkoyoyo Hall.
