As couples were preparing to enjoy themselves last Friday, the territorial Police of Kampala Metropolitan East was on ground arresting Herbert Akampamya, 24, a first year student of Uganda Christian University (UCU) for allegedly giving false information to a public officer.
More details indicate that Akampamya, who was arrested on Friday from Sydney Apartments in Mukono Municipality allegedly called his parents on Valentines Eve (Thursday) and informed them that he had been kidnapped by unknown people.
According to his parents, Akampamya further narrated that the kidnappers were demanding for Shs22 million ransom before releasing him. Police further investigated the matter and later discovered that he had faked his own kidnap.
It is not clear whether this UCU student wanted money to enjoy himself on Valentines Day or for something else.
Akampamya is currently detained at Jinja Road Police Station on charges of giving false information to a public officer.
