H.E Mirembe Racheal Sserwadda, the 24th Guild President of Uganda Christian University (UCU) main campus yesterday 25th May 2022, made a reshuffle in her cabinet ahead of marking 130 days in office.
According to the Guild Prime Minister, the changes were made in order to accelerate the efficiency towards the attainment of the 5-point program and not due to personal weaknesses realized.
“The changes made are not due to personal weaknesses realized but so as to accelerate efficiency towards the attainment of the 5-point program,” the Prime Minister noted in a memo.
However, it is rather dismaying that three of the ministers have not only declined their appointment to new offices but as well resigned from the Guild Cabinet after the reshuffle made. Through letters addressed to H.E the Guild President, they have communicated their unwillingness to serve in the offices they have been appointed to and their resignation from their former positions.
Alikutu Asmah Musa who was serving as the Vice Chairperson Electoral Commission through a letter told H.E Mirembe Racheal that she was resigning from the office due to reasons she preferred to call personal and that Thursday 26th May 2022 would be her last day of service as an occupant of that office.
The Academics Secretary UCU law Society, Muhereza Brian Byamukama who deputised the Education Minister regretted to inform the Guild president that he would not be accepting his appointment to the office of Deputy Minister of culture. As a matter of fact, with immediate effect he resigned from the cabinet claiming that he is concentrating on his private and personal duties working to improve the standards of education among the members of KICOBA.
After many words of appreciation and expression of gratitude, Hon Mark Walusimbi, the Attorney General of the cabinet seemed to be writing in acceptance to his appointment of the Minister of Presidency Office. Much to everyone’s surprise, he was not only declining it but also resigning from his office.
“I have chosen to concentrate on my current career path and personal goals,” Hon Mark Walusimbi explained why he couldn’t take up any ministerial office.
The three Ministers were very grateful to have been part of the 24th Guild Cabinet and sincerely expressed how much of a pleasurable it was to serve the students.
The students hope that the main objective of the reshuffle, which was to increase efficiency towards the attainment of the 5-point program, will be met.
Attached is the list of the new reshuffles;
