On Sunday 10th November, the Uganda Christian University (UCU) community was In full joy following their football team winning for them the first ever title following a well worked out 2-1 victory over St Lawrence University at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.
UCU forward Ezra Kaye Kizito scored once in both halves, earning himself a brace that led UCU to their maiden championship of university league.
St Lawrence University’s consolation goal was scored by Misi Ssemugera but it was rather too late to make an impact.
UCU earned Shs 4,000,000 as prize money with a trophy and gold medals.
The runner up was rewarded with Shs 3,000,000 and silver medals by the State Minister of Sports Mr. Charles Bakabulindi who was the chief guest.
On the other hand, the third place slot was grabbed by Bugema University.
Bugema recovered from down to draw 3 goals with Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi before post match penalties were called to decide the winner, Bugema triumphing 3-2.
