Never underestimate the effect of insecurity and how far institutions of higher learning may go in as far as curbing insecurity is concerned.
Well, Uganda Christian University is not any exception to this set of facts. The Mukono based institution has taken more than a positive step towards curbing the increasing rate of theft, robbery and rape in the region.
A very recent scenario of such insecurity was recorded on Friday “The Standard” – UCU’s official news portal published an article dated 7th October, 2018 where a one Ignatius Nimusiima aged 22 allegedly committed an act that could amount to rape against a first year girl whose identity was withheld for purposes of protection.
Today, numerous posters like the one attached to this article could be seen around the notice boards all over the institution calling for student’s participation in a series of Karate lessons that will be conducted at the Netball Court Every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday between 5-7pm.
One could arguably state that this will indeed be one closer measure to enabling students protect themselves against oppressors.
