In a Facebook post dated Wednesday, 01 April, 2020, the administration of Uganda Christian University (UCU) has come out to warn students planning to boycott the forthcoming online examinations that they face getting retakes.
“It is our commitment to help you complete your Easter Semester 2020, so that when you return for your studies, you will not need to retake your final weeks of study and Exams, which would cost you since the University is expending on this exercise,” an excerpt from the letter read.
The University cautioned the students to do the exams to avoid incurring further expenses on the retakes. The examinations slated to start on 06 April, 2020 have caused a stir particularly on Twitter as students are calling for the postponement of the Examinations.
However, the University has come out to rubbish such ‘misleading’ plans.
“UCU students reading the phony social media posts about postponement of the Take Home Exams should not be duped into believing it. I am writing to assure our students that they will receive the University Exams in the coming few days,” the letter read.
The University has pledged to provide mobile data for the students to access the Online Exams.
“The University Administration is working hard to support you, including providing data to download your Exams and upload your answer sheets,” the letter further read.
Students have expressed fears of ill preparedness during this difficult period when the world is struggling with the deadly Corona Virus. There are a number of students who are struggling with tuition balances and yet the parents are unable to do work during this lockdown.
