Universities have been tussling off in a two days inter-university human rights competition held at Gulu university.
The competition organized by Foundation for human rights initiative under the theme: Promotion and Protection of Human rights in relation to Sustainable Development goals (SDGs).
Uganda Christian University emerged champions of the 12th Inter-University Human Rights Competition as Makerere university came second with Bishop Stuart University settling for the third place.
Prof. Openjuru George Ladaah VC Gulu university believes hosting the Inter-University debate is acceptance to promote Human Rights Issues among the Community.
Justice Tom Chemtai launched the competition that was honoured by the speaker of parliament Right Honorable Jacob Oulanya with 12 universities in attendance and these are:
- Gulu university (host)
- Kabale university
- Islamic University in Uganda
- Uganda Christian University (winners)
- Mbarara university
- Makerere university (1st runners up)
- Mountain of the moon university
- Kampala International University
- Bishop Stuart University (2nd runners up)
- Cavendish university
- St Joseph’s university
- Uganda Pentecostal university
