Uganda Christian University (UCU) has emerged victorious in the National Rounds of the Unwanted Witness Data Privacy Moot Competition, securing the top spot in a contest that tested students’ grasp of technology law, privacy, and human rights.

The UCU moot team will now represent Uganda at the regional finals in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, later this month.

The annual competition brings together law students from across the country to debate pressing issues around data protection and digital rights. With Uganda moving deeper into the digital age, the contest highlights the urgent need for legal minds capable of balancing innovation with privacy safeguards.

UCU’s win adds to the university’s strong track record in national and international mooting contests. The team expressed excitement at the chance to carry Uganda’s flag at the East African stage.

“Onward and upward, Team UCU!”
