Uganda Christian University is celebrating after its School of Law team clinched first place at the Unwanted Witness Privacy Moot Competition, defeating regional rivals from Kenya in a tense grand finale.
The duo — Sandra Ajambo and Heather Stacey Kutamba — represented Uganda and emerged as East African champions, showcasing sharp legal reasoning and advocacy skills in the competition’s climax.
Their victory comes with a prize of $1,500 and an all-expenses-paid trip to Nigeria later this year, where they will attend the Privacy Symposium Africa.
The annual moot, organised by Unwanted Witness, focuses on privacy and data protection law, bringing together top law students from across East Africa to argue cutting-edge cases on digital rights.
For UCU, the triumph cements its reputation as one of the region’s leading law schools, and for Ajambo and Kutamba, it opens doors to the continental stage.
