The ministry indicated that the consignment received comprised of 1,951,200 doses
donated by Spain, 950,000 from France, and another 432,00 doses from Norway.

Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, the health minister, noted that to date, Uganda has received a total of 6,864,960 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, 1,600,000 of the Sinovac, 4,855,320 of Moderna, 11,765,520 of Pfizer and 14,982,300 doses of J&J to support the ongoing mass COVID-19 vaccination exercise.

Going by the above figures, it implies that Uganda has now received a total of 40million
doses of vaccines which are more than enough to vaccinate the 22million Ugandans who are 18 years and above.

This is because the 14.9million dozes of Johnson & Jonson would vaccinate 14.9million
people since the vaccine requires a single dose for one to be fully vaccinated.
The remaining 25.1million vaccines, which require double doses, can vaccinate about
12.5million Ugandans.

This implies that the 40 million dozes Uganda has received so far would enable the country to vaccinate a total of 27.4million Ugandans.

The health ministry’s latest updated report indicates that so far, 16.67 million doses haven been administered.
The ministry recently revealed that over 17 million vaccination doses of COVID-19 will soon expire if uptake in the districts is not improved
