Uganda Martyrs University has had strategic changes in its top management, particularly in the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor.
Accordingly, the outgoing Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (DVC-AA), Prof. Michael Mawa and the Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration (DVC-FA), Rev. Fr. Joseph Ssembatya have handed over office to the new substantive Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC), Rev. Dr. Christopher B. Mukidi.
This development comes in the wake of the recent decision by the Uganda Episcopal Conference to merge the two offices of the DVCAA and DVCFA into one office of DVC.
The handover ceremony was presided over by the Vice Chairperson of the Uganda Martyrs University Governing Council, Prof. Vincent Bagire and the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Patrick Edrin Kyamanywa. It was also witnessed by a section of Governing Council and Management members.
In his address, Prof. Vincent Bagire appreciated the two outgoing DVC’s for their commitment in serving UMU during their term of office and thanked the newly appointed DVC for accepting the new duties assigned to him. He further encouraged the new DVC to delegate and empower staff in their respective departments for efficient service delivery and success of the University.
Ultimately, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Patrick Kyamanywa, applauded Prof. Mawa and Rev. Fr. Ssembatya for the good work they have done for the University and requested them to continue as good Ambassadors of the University.
He remained hopeful that the new Management team will further the vision, mission and objectives of Uganda Martyrs University in consideration of the internal and external environment and paying attention to the future demands of the University.
