The Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) society and community bear heavy hearts over the loss of two of their beloved students Rev. Sr. Stella Teru and Ocen Charles whose demise, though different from the other resulted from previous sicknesses the victims had been battling over the course and was unrelated to the Covid-19 pandemic as many might already have assumed.
Rev. Sr. Stella Teru who had been pursuing a Masters in Education – Holiday Program at Lubaga branch was confirmed departed on the 6th of April 2020 as she had been ill for more than a year or so according to her colleges both in and out of the University.
Ocen Charles, a second year student pursuing BED, MTC/AGRIC at Ngetta campus was confirmed deceased from Kalongo hospital at 9:00am on the 9th of April 2020. His death was indeed untimely and has left many of his comrades shaken and uneasy.
The University has gone ahead to send its condolences to the families and friends of the deceased which unfortunately is all they can do inline with the presidential directive of only close family members attending burial ceremonies.
May the souls of the deceased rest in peace.
