Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) is set to celebrate twenty-five years since its charter in 1993 when the university officially opened its doors to teaching students and awarding diplomas and degrees.
The university that now boast of over 4,000 students offering various science and arts courses started as an education college under ownership of the Catholic Church in Uganda with short agriculture courses. The University currently has various campuses with the main campus situated at Nkozi in Masaka district while the Kampala campus is in Rubaga near the famous Lubaga Cathedral.
Since is official opening, Uganda martyr’s university has become among the few chartered private universities in Uganda offering variety of courses.
The University is set to celebrate its silver jubilee this year on Thursday 18th October, 2018. To crown the celebrations, preparations are underway and several monuments and landmarks are expected to be inaugurated on that day.
The guests for the 25 years of existence of UMU are expected to be top Catholic Church religious leaders as well as government leaders, politicians and NGO persons are expected to grace the event.
According to the organizing committee, the celebration will be aimed at recapping the huge achievements of UMU in terms of sports, academics, discipline and improvement in the quality of graduates produced by the university at both campuses.
