Uganda Matrys University held its 24th Jubilee Graduation Ceremony last week at the Graduation square in Nkozi, Masaka Road.
This Graduation Ceremony was held in a period that the University was planning to hold its Silver Jubilee Celebrations ever since its formulation in 1993.
Over 2040 students from 7 faculties received awards in various disciplines and of these, 45% were males and 55% were females. This figure is more than that of last year where 1969 students graduated.
The ceremony was themed ‘Celebrating 25 Years of Excellence in the Footsteps of the Uganda Matryrs’, and it commenced with a Holy Eucharist mass led by His Grace John Baptist Odama, the Archbishop of Gulu and Chancellor of Uganda Martyrs University.
The Deputy Governor of Bank of Uganda, Dr. Louis Kasekende was the Guest of Honor. He cautioned Graduates to possess a positive attitude towards work, high levels of integrity, writing skills, ability to work in teams and good time management skills.
“Unfortunately, these are non academic areas which are not adequately addressed within our school system yet they significantly contribute to who success in the workplace,” emphasized Dr. Kasekende.
He also informed the graduates on the growing levels of science and technology which are making machines, advanced robotics and computers to replace labor.
He advised the youth to learn more skills so as to enhance their inelasticity and he summed up by wishing the graduates as they pursue their careers.
