Uganda was well represented in the Malaysia national rendering contest as our very own student, Yusuf Buwanguzi took home the top prize.
Buwanguzi a Ugandan mechanical engineering student at the Swinburne University of Technology (Sarawak campus) took home the crown in IME Group of companies ‘render like a pro’ contest where participants had to demo how well they could blend their 3D model into a reality image with computer software.
A total of 21 submissions where made these had to be posted on IME Group of Companies Facebook page where the image with most number of likes could win the computation.
To top the list, Buwanguzi submitted a rendered model of a Mercedes AMG GT and received a total of 652 likes.
He moments after the contest received a laptop to top on other prizes at the IME Solid words Innovation day in Kuching, Malaysia
In his speech, Buwanguzi laments that he started drawing way back in 2002 as a kid using the paint tool to draw appliances at home before being introduced to the 3D modelling software during his internship with an automotive company after high school.
He then decided to major in mechanical engineering to better understand the concept of blending art and engineer.
” At a very young age I became familiar with mechanical systems like gear trains, motors and many others. I had read engineering books to enrich my knowledge even before going to University so I would best describe my self as a blend of an artist and engineer. ” – He postulated to a website in Malaysia.
Congrates, Buwanguzi! Here at campus bee we wish you the very best in your career.
