Uganda was well represented in the Malaysia national rendering contest as our own student Yusuf Buwanguzi took home the top prize.
Buwanguzi a Ugandan mechanical engineering student at the Swinburne University of Technology (Sarawak campus) took home the crown in IME Group of companies “render like a pro” contest where participants had to demonstrate how well they could blend their 3D model into a reality image with computer software.
A total of 21 submissions were made and they had to be posted on IME Group of Companies Facebook page where the image with most number of likes would win the competition.
To top the list, Buwanguzi submitted a rendered model of a Mercedes AMG GT and received a total of 652 likes.
He received a laptop to top on other prizes at the IME Solid words Innovation day in Kuching, Malaysia
In his speech, Buwanguzi said that he started drawing way back in 2002 as a kid using the paint tool to draw appliances at home before being introduced to the 3D modelling software during his internship with an automotive company after high school.
He then decided to major in mechanical engineering to better understand the concept of blending art and engineering.
“At a very young age I became familiar with mechanical systems like gear trains, motors and many others. I had read engineering books to enrich my knowledge even before going to university so I would best describe my self as a blend of an artist and engineer,” he said.
Congrates, Buwanguzi. Here at Campus Bee, we wish you the very best in your career.
