On Sunday morning, sad news struck students of the Nakawa based Uganda Information and Communication Technology Institute (UICT) after one of their fellows was reported dead.
Alia Fedrick Oyo, a second year student at UICT and an old student of Ushindi Secondary School in Arua was found laying dead on Banda streets on Sunday morning.
Ernest (not real name) a close friend to the deceased told this website that it is suspected Alia, who had gone out to have fun on Saturday night, was hijacked by thugs who robbed him clean and later beat him up to death while on his way to a friend’s hostel in Banda -Kyambogo university.
“I was with him a day before and he had intentions of going out on Saturday night. However, after going to the bar on Saturday, he decided not to proceed to Nakawa but rather branched off to Banda and put up at a friend’s place. So we suspect that he was hijacked and beaten up by thugs that night,” aggrieved Ernest explained.
The body of the deceased was on Sunday morning discovered by residents of Banda who notified Police- that later rushed it to Mulago hospital for a post mortem.
Alia’s body will be laid to rest today at 4pm at his ancestral grounds in Arua.
