In a heart-wrenching post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), a one Nicholas Kyeyune has shared his struggles in the local job market.
Despite holding a first-class Bachelor of Commerce degree from India and an impressive 16 points in PEM/ICT from high school, the Nicholas feels disillusioned and frustrated with the lack of job opportunities.
“My 1st Class B/Com degree from India with 16 points in PEM/ICT, once a symbol of pride, now feels like a mere piece of paper in Uganda’s job market. Struggling to make ends meet despite hard work. Feeling lost & disillusioned. #JobSearchStruggles,” he lamented, along with his contact number.
The post highlights a growing concern among many Ugandan graduates who face similar challenges despite their academic achievements.
The competitive job market, coupled with limited opportunities, has left many highly qualified individuals feeling undervalued and desperate.
The frustration expressed in the tweet resonates with many young Ugandans who invest years of hard work and resources into their education, only to find themselves struggling to secure employment.
Nicholas’ cry for help has sparked conversations about the realities of unemployment and underemployment in Uganda, as evidenced in the comments.
