Makerere University survived a possibility of a draw or loss on 12th April 2022 after they were awarded a penalty kick in the 33rd minute to win it all, 1-0.
The University Football League match that saw many supporters in attendance at the Makerere grounds did not leave Makerere University supporters with much confidence and satisfaction that their team is strong enough to take on bigger challenges.
After a two-year ban, the supporters were in anticipation of a great performance from the team’s but in vain.
YMCA made their second appearance in the 10th edition of the league after debuting in 2019. This had given high hopes to the Makerere University fans who saw it as an underdog that should concede more than three goals from the experienced boys.
It was Kasaga Sadat who saved Makerere University after the ball was handled by the YMCA defender in his box. Sadat sent the YMCA goalkeeper diving in the opposite direction as the ball kissed the back of the net from the penalty spot.
The 10th edition of the Pepsi University Football League started off on a high gear with defending champions Uganda Christian University hammering Victory University 3-0, making it the highest score so far.
Tomorrow 13th April, University of Kisubi (Unik) will host Makerere University Business School (MUBS) at the Kisubi University grounds.
