News reaching the Bee is that a private security guard at Kampala University was found dead after reportedly shooting himself.
The deceased, Mesach Matte, was discovered by students arriving today for morning lectures.
This happened at Kampala University campus located in New Kumbu, Masaka City.
According to the Police Spokesperson Twaha Kasirye, preliminary investigations suggest that unresolved family issues may have contributed to the guard’s actions.
“The students immediately alerted the university administration, who then contacted police,” Kasirye said.
Police recovered the weapon and transferred the deceased’s body to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem examination.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with officers gathering statements from university personnel and the security company’s management.
