A 16-year-old student of University Link in Mbale has been beheaded and dumped in an unfinished building. The deceased has been identified as John Wamono who is said to have been killed about 200 metres away from his home located in Zabanyanya Village, Bukasakya Sub-county on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Elgon region Police Spokesperson, Mr Suwed Manshur, Wamono’s head was cut off and taken by his killers who are currently being hunted. Manshur adds that Wamono was convinced by his stepbrother to go to an incomplete house before he was killed. “All signs show that the murder was planned because the deceased was convinced to go to the incomplete house. They [suspects] cut him several times on different parts of the body and beheaded him.” Manshur said.

Wamono’s murder remains unclear as it is said that he had misunderstandings with his stepbrother over inheritance rights. On the other hand, Hadija Nahamya, one of the residents revealed that anonymous letters were dropped in the area by unknown people indicating that they need 10 human heads.

Wamono’s stepbrother is currently on the run as police continues to hunt for him.
