The creation of new constituencies has led to an increase in the number of MPs in parliament. It is on this ground that students don’t want to be left out on the MPs bonanza.
While meeting in Gulu over the weekend, universities’ guild leaders under their umbrella body, UNSA demanded to have two representatives in Parliament. Among the other resolutions that were made included starting up a
wealth creation project among other things. According to Aziz Mujuzi, the organisation’s leader, they also resolved that organisation’s name should not be changed.
They further resolved that Regional representatives should be commissioned to uphold the Inter Guild Council, Inter School Council & Coordinator’s Forum. On the issue of the students’ council, it was agreed that it shall remain with audit powers.
The finance and planning committee should be headed by students themselves NOT a board member, they agreed.
The students also resolved that a workshop should be organized to discuss the annual workplan & the strategic Plan for UNSA. Students resolved that the percentage of subscription remitted to schools shall be increased from 30% to 40%.
