University students have given the government a 14 days’ ultimatum to find solutions to the skyrocketing prices of commodities or else prepare for a nation wide protest.
The students carried placards as they briefed the media about their intent to protest nation wide if no solution is availed to the skyrocketing prices of commodities.
Among the students is Makerere University’s 87th Guild Justice Minister Bbosa Price and a number of other students who were arrested recently during the ‘arrest prices’ protests.
The students requested the president in one of the placards to find an amicable solution to the skyrocketing prices of commodities.
“General Museveni ssabalwanyi defeat high prices now.” One of the placards reads.
Bbosa Price highlighted the need for prices of commodities to be lowered as students report back for a new semester on May 30th. He says they (students) can’t afford purchasing scholastic related equipment yet the new semester is nearing.
Students from various universities were earlier arrested as they protested against the skyrocketing prices of commodities in the country.
These had intended to petition the speaker of parliament over what they termed as ‘unbearable’ prices.
The university students said they will, after a fortnight, if government finds no solution to the skyrocketing prices, stage nation wide protests.
