The 30th Annual General Meeting of the National Students’ Council (NCS) will this year have its proceedings take place at St. Mary’s Ediofe Girls’ Senior Secondary School in the West-Nile district of Arua.
The convention that shall take place between 25th and 27th January 2018 shall also serve as the election period for the new executive of the Uganda National Students Association (UNSA) which is an umbrella organisation that championing the interests of every student in secondary and tertiary institutions of learning countrywide.
Our sources have, however, revealed that there are no nomination forms as yet since nomination shall be done on the floor on the voting day.
In a telephone interview with Imran Kasujja, the National Speaker of UNSA, he revealed that the convention is intended to set a pace for the future generations of the leadership of the association and the country.
“I call upon the students’ fraternity of Uganda to stand together and provide guidance and assistance where we may go wrong and support us for as long as we are doing good in this transition period,” Kasujja said.
He however cautioned that only districts and institutions that have submitted their annual subscription fees shall be allowed to participate in the process.
Every student in Uganda is required to submit an UNSA subscription fee of shs. 2000 per year.
The association is fully fledged and has offices at Legacy Towers under the Ministry of Education docket.
Their patron, President Museveni always overlooks their general assemblies on occassions when he is not caught up in national duty.
On the aforementioned dates, students and delegates are expected to camp in Arua district to witness the transition process.
