Roy Rugumayo, a seasoned student leader, is vying for the presidency of the Uganda National Students Association (UNSA), the umbrella body that unites students from over 4000 secondary schools, universities, and tertiary institutions across Uganda and abroad.
At the heart of Rugumayo’s campaign is a bold vision to transform UNSA into a hub for leadership development, empowering students to become patriotic and pan-African leaders equipped to tackle the complex challenges facing Uganda and Africa.
Establishing a Leadership
AcademyRugumayo plans to establish a Leadership Academy that will offer comprehensive training programs focused on leadership, governance, and community engagement. This academy will provide a platform for student leaders to hone their skills, gain valuable experience, and develop into visionary leaders.
Mentorship and Guidance
In addition to the Leadership Academy, Rugumayo proposes a mentorship program that will pair student leaders with experienced mentors, including UNSA alumni. This initiative will provide guidance, support, and valuable insights to help student leaders navigate the complexities of leadership and governance.
Prioritizing Student Leaders
As President, Rugumayo promises to give top priority to student leaders from universities, tertiary institutions, and District Education Councils (DECs) across the country. He will also recommend delegates to represent UNSA in the National Youth Council, providing opportunities for growth, leadership development, and participation in the Youth Council for five years (2025-2030).
Rugumayo’s vision for UNSA is built on a deep understanding of the organization’s potential to shape the future of Uganda and Africa. With his leadership, UNSA can become a powerhouse for leadership development, empowering students to drive positive change and create a brighter future for all.
The UNSA general assembly is slated for January 19 to 22nd at Seeta High School. UNSA delegates will vote for their new leaders at the assembly.
