Just as International students have been advised to seek shelter at their respective embassies as Makerere University is closed indefinitely, some students of Ugandan citizenship who have been sleeping in different halls of residence have been left stranded as police mans evictions from the University.
Most students from upcountry totally have no where to go especially following the limited time they were given to evict the different halls of residence in Makerere.
Stranded, there has been a whatsapp message making rounds allover the internet calling on different well wishers and volunteers to house or offer shelter to any stranded students.
We managed to talk to a few students who explained to us that they don’t only have transport to get back home but are also afraid of the difficult situation back home.
“I have no where to go for at least a week, more to that, my mum is going to be totally hurt to see me back home just after she completed the tuition payment,” shares Moses a student of Education.
