Gulu University has suspended indefinitely the virtual graduation that was initially slated to take place on June 19 Campus Bee has learned.
The resolution to call off the graduation came after the University’s senate held a meeting on Monday, according to the institution’s deputy Spokesperson – Mr James Ojok Onono
The University’s Academic Registrar noted that the move was taken in observance with the safety restrictions associated with COVID-19 and so, they couldn’t guarantee the safety of the participants.
The announcement attracted mixed reaction from the students who were looking forward to reach the milestone this week.
“These guys are just not serious. Institutions are holding virtual graduation and u are here. So when will it be safe in their understanding, covid is here to stay. Just organize a virtual event.” A one Walter Hargard reacted.
“We are missing opportunities out here coz of ur delays. Some of us want to go for further studies and there is no transcripts and certificates” another student, Jacob Emesu commented.
The graduation now entirely stands on the duration of the restrictions of the country’s lockdown over COVID-19
