URA Recognizes MUST as Best University in Revenue Accounting

Uganda Revenue Authority awarded Mbarara University of Science and Technology an award for being the best university in accounting for revenues.

This happened yesterday at the Tax Payers Appreciation Awards ceremony held at the URA headquarters in Nakawa Kampala.

While presenting the award to MUST, URA cited that MUST has an excellent tax compliance record and has been proactive in identifying and managing any compliance challenge to redress before causing administrative costs.

“From 2016/2017 to date, the entity has endeavored to meet its tax obligations effectively making them a leading example among other universities. They have kept their accounting and tax records in good order and have been handy in providing information requested by URA in a quick and a timely manner. They are commended for the high levels of professionalism in whatever they do,’’ URA applauded MUST.

“URA therefore commends Mbarara University of Science and Technology for complying with the Tax payer obligations as stipulated in the taxpayer charter. We are proud to present this well-deserved award under the category of VANTAGE Awards for MDAs to Mbarara University of Science and Technology.’’

To reach at this success, MUST has five active branches which endeavor to file PAYE and VHT returns and pay on time.

Following the payment integration between URA e-Tax and the university Academic system for processing of other Non-tax revenues, MUST has aided its students to adopt to the change and has proactively sought for assistance from URA.
