Posh Makerere Hostel, Olympia has ordered all its residents to vacate the hostel, Campus Bee has learnt. This comes a week after President Museveni authorized the reopening of universities for final year students.
The reason, we are told, is the hostel management plans to renovate the hostel within the upcoming two weeks.
“The Mgt Olympia Hostel has planned to renovate the hostel. plz come & collect your property with out fail effective 23rd- 30th sept 10am – 4pm daily. Plz comply,” read a communique to all the residents of the Kikoni based hostel.
Disgruntled residents
This communication caught residents of the hostel off guard. “This is such short notice, what will happen to property of International students and those that do not live in Kampala?” One of the aggrieved residents told this reporter.
Finalists have also been left wondering if the renovation works will be complete by the time they report back on October 17th. “Does this mean we shall pay for another semester yet we are going to study for only one month?” One final year Mass Communication student wondered.
By the time of filing this story, some students were spotted clearing their rooms and packing up their hostel iterms.
We shall keep you posted.
