For a second consecutive year, Valley University of Science and Technology has rolled out another Essay writing competition. The competition started last year where 60 participants were awarded.
According to the University Marketing Officer, Mr. Agaba Andrew, this year’s competition has been made bigger to cover the whole country. He says the major objective of the competition is to reach out to financially disadvantaged but bright students. This goes hand in hand with promoting a writing culture among secondary school students in the country.
Eligibility
- School going students
- S.6 Vacists
- Members of society who qualify for University education
Questions
- Discuss the relevancy of microfinance institutions in rural development.
- Examine the impact of climate change on agriculture and food security.
- For any society to develop, science and technology based knowledge is key. Discuss this statement in the context of rural development.
- The government of Uganda has been implementing measures to foster gender equality. To what extent have these measures strengthened gender equality and women empowerment?
Instructions
- Attempt one question
- Original essays should be submitted to info@vust.ac.ug not later than 15th July, 2023
- Clear contact details (district, school, email address, telephone number) should be indicated
- Indicate current level of education
- Written essays will be marked out of 60. There will be an oral essay defense that will be marked out of 40.
