Bushenyi- Valley University of Science and Technology (VUST) last week ushered in a new guild leadership, marking the swearing-in of the 8th Guild Representative Council (GRC). The new government is headed by Mr. Emmanuel Tindyebwa, who officially took oath as Guild President during a colorful ceremony held on Friday. The ceremony was presided over by Commissioner of Oaths, Counsel Paul Tusibira.

Mr. Tindyebwa, in his maiden speech as Guild President, pledged to work tirelessly to ensure VUST continues on its path toward becoming one of the country’s leading Universities.
In his remarks, Mr. Boaz Tumusiime the Dean of Students expressed gratitude to the outgoing guild leadership for their dedication and service to the student community. He further commended the Electoral Commission for conducting what he described as a free and fair election.
The University Secretary, Mr. Janan Mubehamwe, challenged the new GRC to be a bridge of unity between the student body and the administration and to lead with respect, fairness and accountability.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Enos Rwasheema also addressed the gathering, calling upon political leaders to collaborate more closely with institutions of higher learning. He emphasized that universities play a vital role in stimulating growth and development in their host communities.

Bushenyi District Speaker, Mr. Mucunguzi Daglous, who graced the event as Chief Guest, urged the incoming leaders to act as ambassadors of the university, uphold accountability and champion innovation. He further cautioned students against drug abuse and encouraged them to use their energy productively.

The new leadership team includes Ms. Claire Twinomugisha as Guild Speaker, Mr. Demiano Kanzira as Vice Guild President and Mr. Erikana Sibaringana as General Secretary among others.
The installation of the 8th Guild Government marks yet another key step in strengthening student leadership at VUST, setting the stage for new initiatives aimed at improving student welfare and advancing the university’s vision. It should be remembered that in July, 2025, VUST was chartered.
