A group of about 100 students from different universities within the capital – Kampala, have todsy morning marched to parliament, in what they describe – a march to thank the President of Uganda for signing the anti-homosexuality Law into implementation.
The students under their umbrella body led by a student identified as Maxwell Muhwezi were seen today marching on the road along Wandegeya headed towards the parliament of Uganda while holding placards suggesting anti-gay slogans.
“This is our country and the law will shield morals, values and culture,” one of the placards read.
The students are reported to be Makerere, MUBS, Cavendish Universities.
President Museveni signed the highly debated anti homosexuality Law on Tuesday.
The president’s move has since drawn mixed reaction from within and outside Uganda, including threats of funding-withdrawal, and sanctions from donor countries such as United States of America.
