Chaos and violence rocked Kyambogo University on Sunday, December 4 as Tooro Tertiary Institutions Students Association (TTISA) conducted their elections to usher-in new leaders.
The drama ensued from miscounting of votes for the two candidates Mr Micheal Kairumba and Patrick Aliguma who were in a tight race for Presidency.
Mr Kairumba is from Makerere University whereas the latter from Kampala International University.
“I think it was a sleep of the tongue by the person who was counting. Ended up counting 56 votes and it seemed like a tie which caused chaos yet the total votes were an odd number,” one of the voters told Campus Bee.
This called for re-counting after the intervention of the patron.
He added: “They ended up counting 57 votes for Micheal Kairumba, and 56 votes for Patrick Aliguma.”
Another TTISA presidential contender, Mr Ivan Smart, however, scored 22 votes declaring Mr Micheal Kairumba popularly known as Emperor as the TTISA president elect.
