The troubles facing Kyambogo don’t seem to be coming to an end, with the latest being rotting classrooms and a leaking roof threatening to collapse on students any time soon, according to a shocking video and photos sent to Campusbee by a concerned student who experienced the whole spectacle first hand. In the pictures, students are seen in lecture standing on one side of the lecture room as the other is pounded by rain leaking through the roof.
Some students are seen braving the drizzles while standing and carrying on with their studies as large sections of the classroom get flooded with rain, puddles of water forming just under students’ feet. A glimpse at the pictures inevitably leads someone to draw comparisons between lecture rooms and places of convenience, with some students expressing concern about their health as they study in such an environment.
One of the administrators Campusbee spoke to told us on condition of anonymity since she is not the official spokesperson that the university understands the students’ plight but it is financially constrained. “Even when money is there, the procurement process is just too bureaucratic!” she lamented.
What do you make of this appalling dilapidated state of Kyambogo University, the second beggest public university in Uganda, after Makerere?
