Nairuba Sharon, a sad student from Makerere University Business School (MUBS) has notified the institution’s registrar that students are set to fail following the short examination period they are given in the ongoing end of semester online exams.
According to Nairuba, they are given 60 minutes to answer 85 questions yet they spend 10 minutes panicking, 20 searching for network and 20 reading questions.
Nairuba argues that if they can’t finish a theory paper, what about a paper with hardcore calculations?
“I’m writing this letter from a sad mind, students are stranded, doing 85 questions within 60 minutes is so unrealistic for a final exam, we use 10 minutes for panicking, 20 minutes searching for network, 20 minutes reading questions, zero minutes for interpreting and the rest of the minutes are for putting wrong answers.” Nairuba’s letter reads in part.
The disgruntled student wants MUBS to give them more time because they will have nothing to tell their parents after failing the exams having paid over UGX 2 million in tuition.
Nairuba’s letter has arrived hours after the institution announced the postponement of exams that were scheduled to be held on Wednesday, 29th September.
According to a statement issued by MUBS, the exams have been pushed to Monday 11th October and Tuesday 12th for postgraduate and undergraduate programmes respectively.
