Makerere University students under their umbrella of the Students Liberation Front (S.L.F) have resolved never to vote guild presidents following political party lines claiming that these parties have escalated the commercialisation of students politics and imposed on them weak and incompetent leaders.
The decision comes following the pressure demanding the resignation of Robert Maseruka, the current guild president who they say failed to organize the 89th Fresher’s ball that was scheduled for 13th October 2023.
S.L.F is a political think tank within Makerere University that seeks to promote intellectual, meritocratic and violent free leadership amongst the students of Makerere University and other universities across the country.
The think tank has further advised hall elders to end hall supremacy battles and divisions since they have divided the university denying students the chance to unite for a common goal which is service delivery.
They equally seek to present a competent and independent candidate in the 90th guild elections that is not influenced by any political party or political class who can work on the demands of students.
