Makerere University government sponsored students through their association MUGOSA have denounced the delayed release of their food and living out allowances which they say has negatively affected their academic life.
MUGOSA (Makerere University Government Sponsored Students Association) leadership has written a letter to the university bursar dated 21st April 2022 claiming that quite a number of first year students and some continuing students haven’t received their living out and food allowances.
MUGOSA leadership alleges that students have failed to concentrate on their academics due to financial challenges and yet have no hope.
“A reasonable number of freshers and some continuing students haven’t received their food and living out allowances. The pretentious students are in a famish and they have failed to concentrate academically due to the financial impediments they are encountering,” part of the letter reads.
The leadership has therefore, in the same letter, given the university a 5 days ultimatum to address the students challenges or else resort to other means of bailing the students.
